+The city of Glurns, with its 888 inhabitants, is one of the smallest cities in Italy, probably one of the smallest cities in the world. And yet it is a city. But what does it define as such? What are the characteristics of (urban) coexistence?

++1=3 begins with the idea that Glurns, in abstract and minimalized form, is a kind of primeval city due to its size, the prototype of a city defined as such due to certain infrastructures and/or buildings that do not occur "in the countryside". Accordingly, all the smaller and larger cities of the world would have to be similar, a multiplication of the abstract Glurns. But does space really define itself on the basis of lines, dimensions and forms, or are it the individual fragments, the people, who create and define space through their eyes and through their living together?

++1=3 unites about twenty artists who neither know each other nor inhabit the same space. They are at home in many different cities around the world. Two moments (neither chronological nor hierarchical) unite them all. They all resided at the [[http://glurns-art-point.com/ | GAP Glurns Art Point]] at some point. The reflections that were made at that time extend beyond the time of the residence and live on today, in the many different cities. All the artists are also part of a video, which is a red thread that leads through an exhibition in three acts and unites the artists in another moment.

-Die drei Akte des Projekts 1+1=3, die sich mit den Themen des zwischenmenschlichen Zusammenlebens, der Schaffung von sozialem Raum und der Identität des Individuums in ihm beschäftigen, werden mit einer Reihe von digitalen Displays abgewechselt, die dieselben Beziehungen auch im virtuellen Raum herstellen.
-Vor jeder Werkpräsentation (physische Ausstellung) werden für eine begrenzte Zeit zyklisch drei StreamingS installiert, die durch Videos, Bilder und Texte einige Facetten der Kunst- und Ausstellungsproduktion zeigen, die für das Publikum meist unsichtbar bleiben.
-Die Grundidee besteht darin, die Struktur des Museums zu „erweitern“, indem man als Teil der Ausstellung selbst alle ergänzenden und notwendigen Komponenten für die Realisierung des Kunstwerks mitdenkt, die gewöhnlich nicht in Sichtweite sind. Ziel ist es, die räumlich-zeitlichen Grenzen der Galerie aufzulösen und die verschiedenen Facetten des Kunstsystems und ihre Funktion gegenüber der Künstlerin/dem Künstler und seinem Werk zu betrachten.
-Auf diese Weise werden sowohl der Arbeitsraum der Künstlerin/des Künstlers, ihr/sein Lebensraum und ihr/sein persönlicher Geschmack, als auch die Rolle des Publikums und dessen Erwartungen, die inhaltliche und theoretische Bereicherung durch die Presse und Kritik sowie die im Vorfeld der Ausstellung stattfindenden Organisations- und Planungsphasen Teil der Ausstellung selbst.
-Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit dem österreichischen Verein servus. at, der sich mit Online-Kunst und -Kultur beschäftigt, wird das Atelierhaus in Glurns mit einem Video-Streaming-System ausgestattet, das die Räume des Glurns Art Point GAP und die Aktivitäten der dort lebenden KünstlerInnen zeigt. Gleichzeitig sammelt eine zweite Installation auf Basis von Video-File-Sharing Videobotschaften der am gesamten Projekt (1+1=3) beteiligten KünstlerInnen, während ein drittes Display – gedruckt auf Papier – die E-Mail-Kommunikation zwischen GAP und den KünstlerInnen selbst zeigt.
